High School & Jr. High Youth Ministry

* this summer *

Come with us to the Ape Caves! We are going from July 26-27. Make a parking reservation at the cave site as soon as possible HERE, and select your ticket for July 27 (07/27/2024) at the 11-11:30am entry time window. Carpooling with others is highly recommended since parking is limited. A National Forest Day Pass can be purchased anytime ($5 per vehicle) by clicking here. Under destination select “Gifford Pinchot National Forest (GIP)”, then let me know you’re coming! More info to come. this will be a blast!

We are staying overnight at the Beaver Bay Campground in Cougar, WA, 15 minutes from the Ape Caves (150 Sherman Rd, Cougar, WA 98616). The large group campsite is already paid for and fits over 100 people. Tents and pop-up trailers are allowed. Bring $20 cash to be safe, as each vehicle costs $10 to park at the campground.

The campground gates shut at 9pm, so you cannot arrive later than that on Friday. The drive from Lynnwood is about 4 hours without traffic, so plan accordingly and give yourself extra time.

We will go to the caves the next morning by 11am checkout time.

It is a several hour trip to get through the caves. There is an easy cave (dead end) that we will all go down and back to the entrance before entering the second harder cave. Those who are not up for a rock scrambling challenge may choose to only do the shorter easy cave. Wesley will be guiding the rest of the group through the harder cave afterwards.

The harder cave emerges to the surface, where we will then take the trail back to the entrance.

Make sure to bring a helmet to protect from stalactites, 2 flashlights with extra batteries, and some gloves to keep your hands safe from sharper rocks. Bring a sweatshirt as well, since the cave is always 42 degrees regardless of the temperature outside.

Here are some other things you will want to bring:

  • Tent(s) or popup trailer(s) for your group
  • Sleeping bag and pillow
  • Clothes for warm and cool weather
  • Water bottles!
  • Toiletries and self-care
  • A small backpack or day pack for the caves
  • Food and snacks (Meals are provided for youth students)
  • Bug spray and sunblock
  • Sturdy shoes for hiking/caving
  • Helmet, flashlights, batteries, and gloves
  • Cave parking reservation, forest pass, and cash for campground parking
  • Outdoor games (optional)

And most importantly…

be ready for a fun adventure!

Summer camp is upon us! From August 11-14th, we’ll be heading to Black Diamond for a week of fun, spiritual growth, and adventure. We’ll be enjoying group challenges, high ropes courses, time in worship, biblical learning, good meals, indoor and outdoor activities, and much more! You’re more than welcome to have your friends sign up for camp too. This is going to be a blast!

The cost for camp this year is further reduced thanks to donations, just $150 per student.

Here at Northwest Church we believe the youth are the future of the church and we also believe that the youth are part of the church RIGHT NOW. We strive to create a community where all voices are heard, including our teens. With that in mind, the youth program at Northwest endeavors to create a safe, nurturing space where teens can grow in their relationship to God and each other. A space where adolescents can ask the big, tough life questions without fear of being shut down or shut out.

On Sunday mornings we offer discussion based class time where we dig into the meat of scripture and connect it to our teens complicated lives. On Sunday nights we offer youth group with games, snacks, devotionals and plenty of time to grow their friendships.

Serving Together
