Fall '24 Changes

Prior to 2020, the NWChurch has offered as many as three services on Sundays. With one service, our teachers often only get to stream worship.

Nursery – Preschool (1st)

Nursery – 6th Grade (2nd)

 Communion Prep (1st & 2nd)

We want everyone to have “2 touches” at Northwest

  1. Worship with believers.
  2. Study with other disciples.
  3. Serve/Teach/Lead

Our new schedule allows you to attend a full worship service (young and old alike), volunteer to teach, lead, or serve during another, or engage in Bible study on Sunday mornings.

Brian Heninger

Education Pastor/Children’s Pastor

As part of his new role as Education
Pastor of the NWChurch, Brian
Heninger has proposed this new
morning schedule to enhance family
worship, coordinate class themes
(during 2nd service), and encourage
parents to study lessons aligned with
their children’s classes. Jessie
Heninger will offer a special aligned
“parent class” during the 11:00 hour.
In our ideal world, members would
consider attending one service and
working (or studying) during the
other. We hope these choices bless
you and your family as we grow.

Benefits

This new schedule is designed for flexibility and options. Benefits include…

Children’s Teachers & Helpers Can Attend Worship

1

Youth & Workers Can Attend an Entire Service

2

Special “Parents Class” Offered by Jessie Heninger

3

Families Can All Worship Together During 1st Service

4

11:00 Service Still Offers Families Being Together Through Communion

5

NWChurch Makes Room for Growth… more options for more people!

6

"The more students were involved in intergenerational worship before graduation, the better they did in college."
- Fuller Theological Seminary

While we will offer “drop-off your kids and go to worship,” options during 2nd service, our goal is to integrate our children and youth into our worship services. Study after study shows that children who are integrated into the greater congregation for worship have what Fuller calls, “Sticky Faith,” or – faith that sticks.

For families who like a blend, second service will allow them to sing and commune together before going to class. The Bible teaching portion of children’s classes will parallel the sermon time.
