Faith to Peace

This series follows January's study, "Fear to Faith"

Welcome to a New Series!

A message from Lead Pastor,
Chris Goldman

"I have said these things to you,
that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you will have tribulation.

But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Jesus Christ – John 16:33

John 14-16 is often referred to as, “The High Priestly Prayer.” In these chapters are the thoughts and prayers Jesus has for his Apostles. Much of what is contained in these chapters is specific to them. However, some of the recorded concepts have application for all followers ... for all times.

It’s been noted that Jesus has bookends of “peace” found in John 14:26 and John 16:33. From these two, we know that faith and peace are connected. We cannot expect to dwell in the peace of God when we don’t walk in the path of our Lord. We cannot expect to experience the “peace that passes understanding” as promised by Jesus if we don’t claim the promises of Jesus.

In our last series, we encouraged everyone to move from fear towards faith. In this new series, we call you to allow faith to give you a measure of peace that is not necessarily embraced by the world. It’s not a negotiated peace. It’s not a purchased peace (in a literal sense). It’s not an accidental peace. And, it’s not a trouble-free peace.

Because of some unique situations in February (i.e., I’m going to be a grandpa!), these lessons are designed to either stand alone, or to be taught in any order necessary. Barrett Knox will be helping preach this series on Peace.

My prayer is that your faith would bring you into a peace the world around us will notice and appreciate while we dwell in the midst of chaos.

A Song for Reflection

Rich Mullins, "Peace of Christ"

Though we’re strangers, still I love you.
I love you more than your mask.
And you know you have to trust this to be true ...

and I know that’s much to ask!

But lay down your fears.  Come and join this feast.

He has called us here ... You and me.

And may peace rain down from Heaven

like little pieces of the sky.
 Little keepers of the promise

on these souls this drought has dried.
In His Blood and in His Body ...

in this Bread and in this Wine ...
Peace to you ...  Peace of Christ to you!

And though I love you, still we’re strangers ...

prisoners in these lonely hearts.
And though our blindness separates us,

still His light shines in the dark.
And His outstretched arms are still strong enough to reach  behind these prison bars ... to set us free!
